Estudos recentes realçam a importância do mobile marketing em 2011, particularmente pela massificação da Internet no telemóvel que em 2014 ultrapassará a utilização nos desktops.
Mobile marketing could be an essential aspect of marketing in 2011, following the comments of one expert.
Assessing figures from recent surveys, Greg Sterling, writing in a guest post for Search Engine Land, suggests that mobile marketing will be particularly important when targeting users aged between 18 and 27.
Citing survey results from Opera.com, he notes that in 11 countries out of 13, mobile internet use outstrips desktop.
While some of this year's reports predict that mobile internet and location-based services will not take off, Mr Sterling encourages firms to take notice of figures suggesting otherwise.
Data from Morgan Stanley, he notes, predicts that mobile will be more widely used than desktop internet by 2014.
Managing director of YOC UK Christian Louca commented earlier this month that mobile is a natural choice when it comes to internet search - especially when the information people are searching for is time-sensitive.
Meanwhile, he also stated that - for this reason - mobile search could be a much bigger opportunity for brands than apps.
